‘On everything?’

‘On everything.’

‘Okay, coming right up!’ Sessions Lake takes the order in stride, just like he takes everything else – cool, mellow and collected- even though taking orders and running the cash register is not his usual job. He has been a manager at Taco Bell for the last decades, hiring and training and keeping track of figures. He has always loved his job and his life is tacos – perhaps that is why he even named his dog Chalupa. But the past few years, with their topsy-turvy conditions including labor shortages, covid quarantines, and hiring conundrums have put him through the wringer, requiring him to work extra hours and to pitch in with everything on the taco-making-and-selling line on a regular basis. How does he keep his cool?

Perhaps he has been able to weather the pandemic and it’s ensuing stressors so well because Sessions Lake is also a musician. He has decked out his out-building with rock instruments and recording equipment, enough to support several bands, and has somehow, despite all the demands of his day job, found the time to record an album – ‘Between the Naps’ – an album that puts the cheese back in the taco. From the desperate sense of longing that wrings the soul in “Low down Blues” to the upbeat rhythm and cheeky lyrics of ‘Everybody goes to Jail Once’ this album will keep you rockin’ all day and night. ‘On My Own’ sums up both the loss of a loving relationship but could also represent the deeper isolation that each one of us has experienced in our own unique, yet communal way. The album is rounded out by a couple of scrumptious covers: ‘This Must Be the Place,’ a joyful rendition of the Talking Heads that satisfies the soul, and ‘Valerie,’ beautifully sung by his gorgeous wife, Kat.”

Sessions Lake Formation

Lakes are generally formed when water accumulates in basin-like depressions on the Earth's surface, created primarily by glacial activity, tectonic movements, or volcanic eruptions.

Sessions Lake’s musical direction was formed as a young boy with a mom who listened to country, pop, and rock and a dad who had an eclectic taste for blues, jazz, zydeco, polka, and sounds in general.

He started playing violin in middle school and stuck with it through college earning a degree in music from Eastern Michigan University. A revelation happened when he first picked up guitar as a 13 year old - he knew he would always play and perform as soon as he picked one up.

Through teenage years into wild 20’s Sesh played guitar, violin, mandolin, keys, etc in bands around southwestern Michigan.

After stepping away from music for a bit he came back with an unstoppable passion as a solo artist - performing often, hosting an open mic night, and recording both home and studio albums.

Currently Sessions is touring both locally and around the United States while working on his first Studio Album as a soloist.
